2.  Treasurers Report  -  Jim Brooks

As of 2/28/05 our checking account balance is $ 2,408.57.

Jim reports we still need to purchase equipment for the slalom course.

          We pre-paid $800.00 for t-shirts.

We have some ribbons in the storage shed.

3.  Old Business

Chuck Marler’s video was presented to the POA drawing very positive feedback from the Board of Directors.

Jay discussed the Club of the Year award results.  Unfortunately we misinterpreted the deadline date for submittal of our entry and were not 0ligible for this year.  We will continue our quest for the next year.  We did score a lot of points (8000-9000), the winner of the award was an East coast knee board club which scored about 13,000 points.  USA Water Ski did recognize our efforts with an award of USA Water Ski Honorary Club of the Year certificate.

A listing of ski club equipment is requested so that we may get a handle on what everyone has acquired over the years.  PLEASE get a list of equipment to Randy Jayne ASAP.

Tom Nathan has been appointed to head-up the supervision of the new ski club shed.  At present we are waiting on the door and door frame to arrive to be able to start construction.  The shed will be composed of cinder block and the starting measurements will be taken from the door frame.

Sun N Snow Tournament – Laura Johnson reports abut 20 – 30 people have signed up so far, a combination of Big Bear Ski Club members and CLSC members.  The cost will be $ 25.00 each, with waterskiing starting at 9 am and going until we are done.  The snow ski portion will start at Snow Summit with practice at 3 pm and racing at 5 pm.  The CLSC will donate $ 100.00 towards the tournament.

4.  New Business

ACTION POINT

Laura Johnson has received a request from the Big Bear Ski Club to have the CLSC sponsor their bid to become a sanctioned ski club by USA Water Ski.

After a short discussion, Jim Brooks motioned we sponsor the Big Bear Ski Club in their bid to become a sanctioned body.  Matt seconds the motion and the motion passed unanimously.

Web page advisor is needed to oversee the addition of the news letter the web page.  Lots of discussion, with no result.

Scott West has donated 3 back-boards to the ski club.

Tom Nathan has donated 2 gas cans (with vents) to the ski club.

Board Elections

Tom Nathan has been nominated to the position of Vise President.  Ballots to be sent out with the Banquet invitations.

MARCH TOURNAMENT

Tom Nathan and Linda will supply the boats for the tournament.

There will be a make-up round from the February tournament.

The date is scheduled for 3/19 on Sat.

A suggestion to move the Meetings to a Saturday night was discussed with very little support for the measure.

POLAR BEAR DAY

2005 has been canceled.  The first Saturday in January 2006 is the next slated date for the Polar Bear Day.  T-shirts purchased for this year’s event will be used for 2006.

AWARDS BANQUET – APRIL 9th 2005 (Saturday)

The event will be “Canyon Lake Casual”

Coordinators include “Kim, Kim, and Cherie” (no, they will not be singing the Mary Poppin’s popular theme song)

APRIL CLUB TOURNEMENT – April 17th 2005 (Sunday)

Ski club meeting will be a Diana and Matt’s on April 15th (Friday)

FIESTA DAYS – MAY 28TH 2005 (Saturday)

We need a coordinator for the ski show.  Low and behold Adena has been called on the phone and has volunteered her services for the ski show this Memorial day (May 28th 2005 Saturday).

A lot of discussion over who will coordinate the “booth” at Fiesta Days this year, as Kim Whitlow will not be heading up the booth this year.  As of yet, no one has volunteer for the job.

JUMP COORDINATOR – DEE JOHNSON

Cleaning and repairs to the jump was discussed and when would be the best time to do the job.  It was suggested April 9th would be a good day, but the banquet is slated for that day.

TRICK COORDINATOR – WILLY BERTOTTO?

Since Willy was not at the meeting, the subject has been tabled.

WAKEBOARD CLUB

The executive members of the ski club attended a dinner meeting with the members of the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club last month.  Many subjects were discussed; moving the events to the Elsinore Channel (hopefully), the 15 minute rule in the back waters, also, the wakeboard club asks for our support to place miscellaneous apparatuses on Canyon Lake waters, the CLSC board members did, with trepidation, offer their support to the Wakeboard club.
